Otunbayeva, head of the United Nations Mission in Afghanistan, said that the location is shrinking for talks with the Taleban.
According to him, the governments of some countries have raised the question that by communicating with the Taleban, there is a possibility of strengthening the freshness of the fundamentalists.
At the same time, Afghanistan is struggling with budget difficulties, due to changes in global priorities and reconsideration of assistance, there is a risk of sinking and isolating in the trough of deep poverty on the country.
“This result can be avoided, but only if all the stakeholders understand this risk and try to avoid it, especially facts (De Facto) Administration.”
The Special Representative said that if it would be very helpful to find a clear sign from the Taleban administration that they are committed to the re -integration of Afghanistan with the international community.
According to him, this is a moment to adopt reality.
Help money cut
Afghanistan is currently going through a serious humanitarian crisis, where 2 crore 30 lakh people, that is, about half of the country’s population needs international assistance and protection.
However, due to the amount of money, 200 health centers have been forced to close, which has affected 20 lakh people. Also, the level of malnutrition services has also decreased.
In the year 2024, Afghanistan’s economy proceeded at a speed of 2.7 percent, a major reason for which investment was made at the regional level in the infrastructure.
The UN Mission Head said that this slight economic growth cannot reduce the impact of a sharp decline in foreign aid. “Life and livelihoods will end and development progress will be shocked …”
Challenge in connecting international community
The mission chief said that the methods of Taleban for international obligations are a barrier to re-integrate Afghanistan in the global community.
He said that the Taleban has participated in some technical discussions and issues like dealing with drugs and developing private sectors. However, there has been no special progress on other large subjects, such as human rights.
According to Rosa Otunbayeva, the Afghan administration has treated its international obligations. Some obligations have been rejected by saying that they are allegedly a violation of the country’s sovereignty or their traditions.
He has warned that these international obligations not only affect the possibilities of the progress of the country, but it is also connected with the welfare of the entire population of Afghanistan.
Micro situation for women’s rights
There are particularly worrying conditions for women and girls in the country, where serious people have been imposed on their rights and freedom.
According to the mission head, there is a ban on the departure of women students in medical institutions. It was in select areas where it was possible for women to get professional education.
However, there is a possibility of deep impact on motherhood and health-welfare of newborns from these people.
Rosa Otunbayeva said that the roads are still present for contact and interaction with the Taleban. Negotiations on the development of private sector and prevention of drugs have also found a framework to increase mutual confidence. But broadly progress is dependent on the political will of every aspect.
