UN office spokesperson Thamin al-Khititan told reporters in Geneva that so far 111 people have been confirmed and the verification process is going on.
According to the news medium, the figure of the dead is expected to be up to one thousand. Security forces of the caretaker administration in Syria allegedly targeted communities in coastal areas which are considered a supporter of former President Bashar al -Assad.
Ohchr Spokesperson Thiemin al-Khitan said that there have been many incidents of distressed incidents in which women, children and those injured in the fight were killed. In most of these cases, cities and villages of the community were targeted.
The Assad family belongs to the same addition to the community, which is a branch of Shia Islam. In addition to the total population of Syria, the community is about 10 percent.
The UN office quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the people who carried out these incidents attacked the houses, questioned the local residents about their ethnicity, and in addition to the confirmation of being aite or Sunni Muslim, either killed them or left them alive.
Murder in front of family
According to Thameen al-Khitan, some survived people said that many men were shot in front of their family. It is reported that on March 6-7, the former Asad government loyal security forces and armed persons allegedly attacked several hospitals in Latakia, Tartus and Banias.
There have been clashes with the security forces of their caretaker administration, in which a large number of common citizens, patients, doctors and medical students were casualties, and hospitals were also damaged.
There are reports of killing all the families including women, children and injured fighters in retaliation. The current caretaker administration’s security forces and unknown gunmen have been reported to be killed without hearing on the basis of the community.
It has been feared that in recent times, houses and shops have been looted on a large scale and unknown persons have taken advantage of the chaotic situation on the ground. Many common citizens have left their homes and fled in rural areas, and a large number of people have taken shelter in an airbase controlled by Russian military forces.
Compromise with Kurdish leadership
Meanwhile, the United Nations has welcomed the agreement on Monday between the caretaker administration and Kurdish Democratic Forces (SDF) in Syria.
SDF was a powerful part of armed opposition during the former Assad rule, and had control over a large area in the northeast of the country. After this agreement, SDF fighters will now be part of the national army and the Kurdish population has been recognized as a unbroken part of Syria.
UN special envoy for Syria, Gair Padreson, has hoped that the agreement will strengthen a reliable and inclusive political process in the country, in accordance with the principles of proposal 2254 of the UN Security Council.
With this, it has also been expected to agree on a new constitution in Syria and pave the way for independent and fair elections.
