United Nations Human Rights High Commissioner Volcar Turk noted that the campaign of rights of persons with disabilities emphasized that without their participation, no decisions related to their lives should be taken.
However, at present, the international community, the basic element of the universal manifesto for human rights, is failing to keep the handicapped for the handicapped, which states that all humans are born equal.
The UN Human Rights High Commissioner said that persons with disabilities are discriminated against in all areas and are rejected. Their value is underestimated, targeted and ignored, especially women and girls.
He said that the use of technology should promote inclusion, but this has deepened inequalities. In online communities, intimidation and darling means that no place is safe. People with disabilities are held responsible for the evils prevailing in the society.
Problems of handicapped
Disability Rights activist Nikki Lily reiterated the warning of the Human Rights High Commissioner for Internet, saying that incidents of intimidation and online hatred have increased on online mediums. However, these platforms can also prove to be a lifeline for persons with disabilities.
20 -year -old Nikki Lily has an online presence from the age of eight. At the age of six, he came to know about the unusual state of his arteries and veins, affecting his face. Due to this, there can be many other problems including seizures, weakening eyes, headache, trouble in speaking.
She says that she got an opportunity to connect with new people with the presence on the online platform, often she used to forget her reality while lying on the bed in the hospital.
Nikki Lily told about her campaign on social media, which focuses on helping people living in rare and complex health state.
He urged social media companies that in the development of technology, persons with disabilities would have to be taken along, and to test the online material, the filter system will have to be faster.
Nikki Lily told the Human Rights Council of 47 members that this problem is not only with the social media platform but also before the institutions.
New technology challenges
The state -of -the -art technology, which identifies the face, has been seen as a major progress, but Nikki Lily said that this technology is not effective for their community.
People who have to remain in the face of face changes every day have not been taken care of in this software.
Because of this, they have to face obstructions in using the banking app, applying for employment or acquiring identity related documents, since the facial identifying technology is not able to identify their face.
In view of this, Nikki Lily welcomed the UN treaties on the rights of persons with disabilities and appealed to the members of the council to invest in such a accessible digital system, in which there is equal behavior with all the people, the accountability of the platform is fixed and the inclusive policies should be adopted.
Strength on inclusion
UN Human Rights High Commissioner Volcar Turk said that some auxiliary technology is prepared by men, for men and women are ignored.
The head of the World Federation for the deaf-nation, Sanja Turkze said that one in every 10 person living in a state of disability is accessible to technology at a sufficient level.
Such technologies are not only simple tools, but can also ensure complete participation and inclusion of persons with disabilities.
He drew attention that a world in which complete participation of disabled persons has been ensured, is not only a dream, but it is the common responsibility of all of us, and we have to take it together to convert it into reality.
